Tooth Replacement
There are many ways to replace teeth that you are missing or need to be extracted.
- One of the best options is Dental Implants. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is surgically secured into the jawbone. We do not place them at our office. We do not do the surgical portion at our office we will set up an appointment with ou referring dentist who places the Implant/Implants for us. After proper healing time you come back to our office and we restore the implant with a crown, bridge or removable partial/denture . You can have 1 implant or as many as needed placed to restore your mouth back to optimal health.
- Another way of replacing missing teeth is having a PFM(porcelain fused to metal) bridge made, we would adjust the opposing teeth down to place a bridge over them to replace the tooth or teeth you are missing. Sometimes this is not the best options for patients because the teeth next to the missing one have not current dental restorations so it is very radical to cut down a virgin tooth to replace one.
- The third way is making a removable partial denture to replace the missing teeth this is not the best options because they are referred to as tooth removers. In order to have a removable partial made you have to have metal clasps that hug tightly, remaining teeth that you have and over time can result in loss of teeth. If you are missing all of your teeth a removable denture can be made to replace them.
- The final option is to do nothing but this is also not a very good option because over time your other teeth around the missing tooth will move or shift into the opening. Causing a change in the way you bite or chew.
